This bright Elizabeth Street coffee shop glows with white brick walls, warm wood finishes, and a steady flow of customers ordering their famous tiramisu and tahini lattes. Lifted from the BTS song "Whalien 52", Koré means whale in Korean.
Here, they celebrate a delicious Korean dessert-cafe tradition: going to a cafe specifically for dessert, with coffee as a secondary focus.
The Kim family runs every part of the cafe together. Photography by NK Kim, the founder, hangs on the walls. Mrs Kim, a composer, develops the drinks menu, which includes ceremonial-grade Kyoto matcha and Counter Culture beans. Fresh croffles emerge throughout the day from the family bakery.
Whether you're gallery hopping in Little Italy and Chinatown or chasing a sugar high, it's one of those cafes that makes you feel like you’ve dipped into a local haven.
