Some coffee shops are places people stop in for ten minutes; others are places they stay for three hours. Ludlow Coffee Supply, which is the second kind, is the neighborhood's unofficial living room.
The cafe feels like a holdout from an older version of New York. The front room hums with meetings, sketchbooks, and conversations; its service counter came from the beloved Pink Pony Cafe. In the back, leather sofas, bookshelves, and occasional vinyl sessions encourage people to settle in rather than rush off.
The espresso is always excellent (the house blend comes from Red Hook), and if the front window is free, you've found one of the best coffee seats on Ludlow Street.
